Having worked in Syria during the height of the crisis, when millions were being displaced from their homes, we have watched the progression of the war and the devastating economic effects of both the war, international sanctions and earthquakes on people’s abilities to rebuild their lives and communities.
Over the years we have been working in Syria, we have seen the negative impact that continuous distributions of humanitarian aid have, if done without tackling and providing solutions for the underlying problem of poverty. We are supporting the vulnerable and poor, widows and older orphans, to gain a better education, and develop livelihoods and life skills.
Whether running courses for widows to learn hairdressing, supporting widows in sewing projects, supporting women and providing through farming projects, or helping older orphans gain trade skills, we are very keen to empower the poor and vulnerable to be able to work towards independence.
In the last years we have supported a number of widows with livelihood support, which has enabled them to live with dignity.
If you, your church, your friends or family can help support this work in any way, we would be grateful for your support. Please use our standard giving form on the SUPPORT page and choose the ‘Orphans & Widows’ account.
