FOOD & AID DISTRIBUTIONS

Over the years we have been working in Syria we have responded to crisis upon crisis, and have distributed aid in most governorates and major cities under the control of the Syrian government, including Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Tartus, Latakia, Dear Ez-Zor, As Sweida, Baniyas, Draikeesh, Palmyra and many more.

Our teams have distributed aid to hundreds of thousands of people, including the internally displaced people fleeing fighting and earthquakes, the poor, disabled, elderly and vulnerable, widows and single mothers. We have provided aid for hundreds of thousands in need when the sieges were broken in places like East Ghouta, East Aleppo, Deir Ez-Zor and Homs, and responded to people who lost their homes in the earthquakes in 2023. Along with food, we have distributed significant amounts of non-food items including clothing, shoes, bedding, hygiene items, mobility aids, educational items, school bags and other essentials.

We currently have three permanent aid distribution centres in different areas, and are in the process of building three smaller centres in other areas. They go hand in hand with our outreach work, providing education, skills, activities and food for orphans, widows and the most vulnerable.

During the years we have been working in Syria, we have also seen the damaging, long term effects resulting from aid agencies continually giving food or other aid without also working with the families and individuals in need, to try to find solutions for the underlying lack of livelihoods and income. It is a struggle in a collapsed economy like Syria, yet we believe it is essential to move away from aid which builds dependency and helplessness but instead encourages independence, self sufficiency, learning and working with families in need to build a better and more stable future.

Our team also provides a nutritious meal for children as part of each of the groups and activities we run in our outreach centres. Through this we aim to create a nurturing, family environment while also meeting a social and physical need. For many of the children we serve, the hot meal is the attraction that keeps them coming back time after time.

A nutritious meal which includes meat and dairy is expensive in the current economic crisis in Syria, but is provided with the activities our team is running.
